Application Support Engineer (All Levels)

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Employment Visa provided for non-Malaysian)

About the Role:

Join our team as a Senior Application Support Engineer and play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability and performance of mission-critical banking systems. You’ll resolve complex production issues, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive continuous improvements in a fast-paced financial environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support for high-availability banking applications (e.g., payments, cards, loyalty platforms).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with developers, vendors, and infrastructure teams to deploy patches, updates, and security configurations (SSL, OS patches).
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recuring issues and work proactively to prevent future occurrences. 
  • Monitor system performance, optimize SQL queries, and manage batch jobs.
  • Maintain compliance with audit and security standards (2FA, encryption) in a regulated banking environment.
  • Participate in disaster recovery (DR) planning and post-incident reviews.

 

What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience in application support/maintenance, preferably in banking/financial services.
    • L1: 1 – <3 Years experience 
    • L2: 3 – <5 years experience 
    • L3: 5 – <7 years experience 
    • L4: 7 – <10 years experience 
    • L5: >10 years experience
  • Strong technical skills:
    • Core: Java, Unix/Linux, shell scripting, SQL/PL-SQL, application servers (JBoss/WebLogic).
    • Tools: JIRA, Remedy, Splunk, Dynatrace.
  • Experience with DevOps basics (Jenkins, Git) and cloud platforms (AWS/OpenShift) is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of XML and its use in web services, configuration, and data manipulation.
  • Excellent communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.

 

Nice to Have:
  • Domain knowledge in cards systems (3DS, CACS), payments, or fraud detection.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Certifications in ITIL, AWS, or cybersecurity.
